Captain Marvel movie: Release date, powers, trailer, cast, plot,Story, news and all you need to know

Captain Marvel will bring back some familiar faces to the MCU. Here's everything you need to know!

Captain Marvel finally arrives in March 2019 and it will herald a new era for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, because it will finally see a woman headline a Marvel solo movie.

Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck (Mississippi Grind) will direct the Captain Marvel movie from a script by Geneva Robertson-Dworet, who replaces the exiting team of Nicole Perlman (who famously helped develop Guardians of the Galaxy for the screen) and Meg LeFauve (The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys, Inside Out).

RELEASE DATE
All being well, Captain Marvel will find its way to cinemas on March 8, 2019.
That’s the release date for the UK and the USA, as well as Sweden. Some European territories will get it slightly earlier: France and the Netherlands currently list March 6, while Argentina, Germany, Russia, Slovakia and the Ukraine will follow on March 7.
CAST
Larson will play the titular role; ostensibly the most powerful superhero in the entire MCU. She will then appear in Avengers 4.
She’ll be joined by Lee Pace’s Ronan the Accuser and Samuel L Jackson’s Nick Fury - with Ben Mendelsohn, Jude Law, Gemma Chan, Clark Gregg and Djimon Hounsou also aboard.
Rumours have suggested that some Guardians of the Galaxy will show up, but this is unconfirmed
PLOT
Marvel’s official synopsis reads: “Based on the Marvel comic character first appearing in 1968, the story follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races.
“Set in the 1990s, Captain Marvel is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”

Captain Marvel Powers

So who is Carol Danvers and what are her powers?
Well, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige recently told us to get ready, because the MCU version of Captain Marvel is "a hero who is more powerful than any hero we've ever introduced.”
And he's right. Captain Marvel has Thor-level strength and relative invulnerability, energy projection, and the ability to fly. Look at it this way, Carol Danvers is an Air Force officer with air combat experience. She's already a badass in the skies. Now someone who has the training to fly combat missions in advanced fighter jets will be able to kick ass in the air...and she won't need a plane to do it.

Captain Marvel Story

Here's the official synopsis from Marvel:
Based on the Marvel comic character first appearing in 1968, the story follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races.  Set in the 1990s, “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
It was revealed during the Marvel Studios SDCC panel that the Skrulls will be the major villains of the Captain Marvel movie. We also learned that the film be set in the '90s and that Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) will play a major role in the movie. A fun tidbit: Fury will still have both of his eyes in this movie.
